Shryock’s Callaway Farms is a 100-year-old family-owned farm that grows over 40 different crops and raises over 3,000 beef cattle each year. Cattle, corn, soybeans, wheat, alfalfa, barley, and clover are the most common crops grown, but there are also fruit orchards and grapevines. The farm employs over 200 people, all of whom live nearby and return year after year.
Each year the farm holds an open house in September where guests can tour the fields and orchards, visit the nursery, see the animals, stop by a working blacksmith shop, and watch as the corn is cut and loaded onto wagons. Groups can reserve private campfires where they can roast marshmallows or hotdogs. The property’s large red barn is an area landmark and serves as the farm’s headquarters. The barn serves a variety of refreshments, offers merchandise for sale, and houses one of the farm’s most popular attractions – a three-story gumball rollercoaster.
